Kaiser Permanente, a health care provider comprised of a Health
Maintenance Organization and a hospital group, identified
the need to become more responsive to its client base in order
to improve its competitive position and attain its overriding
business goals. A key challenge identified by Kaiser was the
need to communicate the corporate vision to all segments of
the organization and secure employee buy-in at all levels
– care providers, administrative staff, union personnel
– for a Total Quality Management approach to providing
service.
Kaiser turned to LGI Communications to design and implement
an internal strategic
communications plan to secure and sustain the required
degree of health professional and staff support for the organization’s
short-term and long-term marketing and client relations objectives.
The plan entailed a comprehensive communications audit informed
by a series of focus groups at which all internal audiences
were represented.
The plan, which was enthusiastically received by the client,
helped enable Kaiser to bring about the changes that have
now made it a health service provider rated by consumers as
one of the best.
